I know there is many Greek films. But as far as I know the only major Roman movie is Gladiator.

I want to build one, but i do not understand why its so good, and how to operate one, can someone give me an example of a world champ G-Beast deck? |||Okay, I'm kind of good with GB so heres some examples:





1. Once they attack (and not destroyed) you can swap that GB with another one in your deck + effect is activated.





2. Sometimes Great Advantage Sometimes Not......... such as:

3. Best Fusions - Just like Contact Fusion, you just need the right material monsters on your field, and you can put them in your deck, shuffle, and bring out the right Fusion Monster.

3 of both fusions would be nice. and try to get 2/3 of each spell card that has to do with gladiator bests then you will see why they are as good as they are and then you can build your own Gladiator Beast deck without having to copy the world champian deck. you could just look up cards that have to do with it as well thats all im going to say to you bye =)|||3 things. Number 1, they're so versatile because you can switch them out after you attack or get attacked, and pull out the one best suited to the situation. Two, Heraklinos. It pretty much reads you're opponent can't activate spell or traps. Three, Gyzarus. Destroying 2 monsters is pretty rigged, and you can take spells and traps too. The contact fuse.

you can wear them with your jeans, a sundress, a miniskirt, shorts...





they're more of a spring/summer item, so pair it with other warm weather items, like a loose t-shirt, denim shorts, floral dresses, etc.|||I just got my gladiator sandals and love them!


I like to wear them with short shorts from hollister or abercrombie. Depending on the color of the sandals, wear them with almost any shirt that matches them.

How do I defeat gladiator beast Heraklinos?

Every time I activate a card, my opponent negates and destroys it by discarding a card from his card. It would take forever for me to get him to throw out all his cards. Is there a way to defeat Heraklinos?|||Yeah, it's called effect monsters. Heraklinos can't negate monster effects so that's it's weakness.








Also, counter trap cards cannot be countered by Heraklinos because they are spell speed 3 and Hera is only speed 2.

Seriously, if you don't know how to take down something as simple as Heraklinos, you don't deserve to be playing this game. The card practically has "kill me with monster effects" written all over it.|||Gladiator Beast Heraklinos is by far one of the best GB that cripples your opponent's deck. The Gyzarus-Heraklinos combo would really finish off any deck (if they recover from it, then what luck!). I know that a Heraklinos rising from this combo would pretty much end the game (really). Oh yeah, don't forget the all-powerful Chariot-Heraklinos with Equeste coming out (another crazy lockdown). I'm naming all this so that you can find a way to loop around it.


Monster Effects are the answer (already mentioned it before but the "crazy lockdown" would screw these effects over).


Cards: Metagame deck key cards!


Ex. Dark Armed Dragon, Judgment Dragon, etc.


Also, negate it's summoning by using Solemn Judgment. Another solution is making the opponent top-deck in order to let him choose to play that card or to just wait and use Heraklinos' effect. So, make him/her use/discard his/her cards because I don't think GB decks have some kind of drawing engine.

So ok in order to summon gladiator beast herakilnos your opponent needs gladiator beast laquari so this is what you do. so use exchange . this is what it does. summon it and your and your opponent show your hands. then you pick a card from your opponents hand and your opponent picks a card from your hand . so put exchange in face down mode . then when your opponent has the monster use exchange .

Why do people not run ancient forest in a Gladiator Beast Deck?

It seems like a good card to run, but no one runs it in competitions. Why is this so?|||Because they don't need it, and it also doesn't really help at all. You don't want to lose any Gladiator Beast to anything, including battle. Ancient Forest doesn't stop the attack, so your Glad Beast still dies. Sure, afterward, their monster dies too, but you've still lost a Glad, which is probably more important to you than your opponent's monster was to them. Dimensional Prison is a much better option, even though it only stops one attack, it keeps your Gladiator Beast safe, which is what's really important.|||That's actually a pretty good idea.





Ancient Forest would activate, then the glad beast would chain it. Then, the glad goes first and special summon other glad, and ancient forest would have no target.|||Think of it this way, the card alone is basically a double edge sword. When the card is in play monsters can not be in defence mode and they can't really attack unless they are willing to loose a monster after battle. Think of it as a long term version of After Genocide. However there are tips on using this card effectively. Take a look at the link below.|||Makes the deck too slow, there are much better cards to run

I am looking for a picture or text of what a common poster would look like. I know the Romans put up flyers like this in the forum describing who was fighting, when, where, etc. Any links to a picture or text of what one of these would look like would be appreciated. Thanks!|||You may contact universities found in Rome. It sounds a bit crazy, but if anyone has preserved them, it would probably be archives at the universities. If you are able to contact them, they will take a digital picture of it and send it to you via email.

How to succesfully run Royal Oppression in a Gladiator Deck?

I have Royal Oppressions in my side deck and if I ever side them in what would be a good way to play it without hurting myself too badly? I figured I'd play it after summoning something like Heraklinos.





Any tips?|||Don't run it. All it does is mess up your own deck and help whatever deck you're playing against (mostly Blackwings, with the Vayu-Oppression combo). Plus, if you bring out Heraklinos and then use Oppression, and then your opponent plays Smashing Ground, you basically lose. Never run Oppression in Glads, and don't even side-deck it. It doesn't work in that deck. By the way, I run Blackwings, and my friend runs Glads. Whenever I get out Oppression, it completely screws up my friend's deck and he'll usually lose unless he draws an MST or Heavy Storm or something like that. I hope this helps!|||Do not run Royal Oppression because then it will ruin your deck. Gladiator beast decks base around taging for more Glads and special summoning them, then your oppenont can chain and destroy.

I need to write a historiographical analysis about the roman gladiator games, that contrasts two historians views of the event. I am having trouble figuring out what question I should try and ask in the paper, and what aspect of gladiatorial games to look at in depth. Can anyone offer some suggestions?|||Here are two contrasting views, not from Roman historians but from key historical figures and writers.

How movie Gladiator showed the rise and fall of the Roman Empire?

Please can you explain from the start to end because i have some problems with history|||The movie starts out at the apex of the Roman Empire. It isn't really a linear history. It is a movie about a few different stories all crammed into one simple storyline. There really was an emperor named Commodus, and he really was a punk. He actually changed the name of Rome to Campus Commodus, or in modern English: Commodus town. What balls!


So anyway, the good Emperor Marcus Aurelius had conquered the world, and now he was getting ready to turn the Empire into a democracy, though technically a republic since it would be governed by elected officials in the Senate. But I digress.


When Commodus took over, he ruled horribly, and couldn't solve any of the problems the people were facing because he'd always lived in a palace where problems were merely imagined in the abstract the way we imagine algebra problems in our heads. He knew all about being fed, nothing about being hungry. He debased the common people by giving them gladiator tournaments and performances in the Coliseum. The people were not ennobled by these things, they were made more savage and less refined. There is a legend of a slave who became a gladiator who slew the emperor, but I don't think the emperor was Commodus. And I don't thing the slave was the former General of the Roman Army. But it makes for a nice Hollywood story, some truth patched together with a lot of dramatized fiction. I don't know if this helps at all, but Rome certainly wasn't built in a day or burned in a day.|||I wouldn't say that it really showed the rise of the roman empire, but it briefly showed rome during the reign of caesar augustus and then mostly concentrated on the reign of Commodus. I am pretty sure that the script is partly fiction. If you have problems with history i would concentrate mainly on the core storyline which is maximus being wronged by commodus and his efforts to get vengeance for the death of his family.|||Gladiator is a historically inaccurate depiction of Roman history.

At the end of the battle step, They can be returned to the deck to summon another gladiator beast from their deck. If the gladiator beast is sent to the graveyard by battle can you still send them back to the deck? I have a friend who uses them and we're not sure if the effect would only work if it survived the battle or no matter what.|||Gladiator Beasts cannot tag out if they are destroyed by battle. They must be protected by cards like shrink, waboku, book of moon etc. They can only tag out if they survive until the end of the battle phase. I bought some uber cute ones today, but I am afraid I got the wrong size. How should they properly fit?|||Glads do take some time to get the feel of on your feet. I usually wear a 10m but I got mine in a 9 1/2m. They don't give quite as much support as a regular shoes so the fact they fit a bit tighter make them feel like my foot is not going to slip around in them. But if you get a small size make sure your toes don't hang over the ends

Rescue cat and samnite replaces the whole prisma engine. People put X-Saber Airbellum instead. Some people at yugioh forums say it was slow. Is not called plasma, is called prisma.





Solemns and mirror force might be expensive for starters, so get bottomless trap holes instead or put a prisma.

Thanks in advance|||I think the music composed for the film Gladiator does exactly what a classic movie score should do - when you're simply listening to it, you are able to picture the movie in your mind's eye (the same thing that the music composed by Miklos Rozsa did for films in the 1950s and 1960s - think Ben Hur and El Cid, in particular).





There are some amazingly dramatic and uplifting parts in the Gladiator soundtrack, my favourites are the battle scene (with the Germans) at the start, and the later scenes in the Colosseum. Within the music, you can hear parts that easily convey the clash of swords and armour, and the tempo builds as the battles reach their climax.





As with the movie, the music fits the various moods as the story changes - there are uplifting pieces, dramatic and passionate pieces (usually used during the confict and battle scenes) and also a romance-style piece (fitting with the contemplative moments in the film, when Maximus is remembering his family).





I love the Gladiator soundtrack, and think it's one of the best written to date.

Some of the battle scenes are bearable to watch, but if you're squeamish about blood then it's probably not something I would recommend to you. There are many deep things that happen in the movie. So I would still watch it, because the greatness of the story as a whole overshadows the violence.|||I recall one scene where a gladiator had spears protruding from her chariot's two wheels. One gladiator fell, was attempting to sit up (to try standing up) and the chariot drove by and sliced off his head or something incredibly bloody occurred. The film scores you cited are in a tradition of film-score writing, which is stylized but takes all its cues from classical music. Much of that classical base was from the late romantic period and the first half of the twentieth century.



Here is the last movement of Resphigi's Pines of Rome. It is a 'tone poem' - i.e. it is loosely based on a premise of evoking images, or just as likely an image inspired the composer to conjure up a particular sound. It sounds a bit exotic (Slavic 'accent) and epic, and you might call it,a bit "goth." Arthur Honegger, Symphony No. 5, last movement. In the classical department, this earlier twentieth century work still 'sounds' very well' and also sounds to me a bit 'dated.' It eremindsme of episodes from the Flash Gordon serials in black and white form the late thirties. Again, some of this 'vocabulary' is now a staple in the film composer's color box:

If you are still with me, I add now a piece I love. Late Romantic - Modern, music of mixed character, with those characters working with and against each other. It is extended, a continuous ten minutes, and has a dramatic narrative feel ('cinematic'). It goes military and threatening, and builds nicely. It too, to a degree, has entered the vocabulary of film scores.

My friend has been bothering me for the past month, begging and pleading for me to watch this movie. He even said he'd go as far as to buy me the blu-ray edition for $30 some dollars on Amazon and have it shipped to my house just so I could watch it (despite not owning a blu-ray player). I'm currently watching Gladiator (about halfway done), and I noticed that after the first battle scene, the dog is not mentioned or seen again. Spartiates, -iatae m.|||In an arena, the question is one of experience, skill, cunning, and luck. Is the gladiator a veteran of a hundred combats? A thousand? Is it his first?





Is the Spartan a hardened veteran? How well does he adapt?





All things being equal, the safe money would be on the gladiator in the arena, because that's what he's trained to do. A gladiator is a fighter, not a soldier. That's not to say that Spartans weren't adept at hand-to-hand combat, but their weaponry, shields and tactics evolved to fight as a group, and not as individuals.





On the battlefield, the opposite is true. Victory is dependent on things like prowess and courage and skill with a weapon, but critically important are tactics, supply, communication and above all, discipline. To a large degree, that's what military "basic training" is (and has always been) about: breaking down the individual in order to rebuild him as a member of a team.





Sure, Gladiators occasionally fought in massed games designed to look like small battles, but in reality these were nothing more than big brawls. Spartacus' armies did well, after they learned to work well together, and Spartacus and others learned a thing or two about tactics, strategy, and logistics. And ultimately Spartacus' forces were defeated when their discipline failed.





A well-fed, well-trained, well-disciplined Spartan army under experienced leadership would almost certainly annihilate an army of individual gladiators.|||John P. is correct that gladiators lived long after Sparta collapsed. Consequently, any answers would be based on speculation.





That being said, I would assume that a gladiator would have an advantage in an arena, while the Spartans would be dominant on a battlefield. The reason for that is that the gladiator's training was based on 1 v. 1 combat, while the Spartans were trained to fight in formations on battlefields.|||I would say the Spartan would win, they train to fight to the death in battle. A Gladiator fights to win in the arena.|||The two types never met in battle, nor in the arena. They were some hundreds of years apart.

I know we should be more focused on what is good for the country rather than gladiator sport but this would provide some comic relief.|||For what it is worth, Obama had pretty much a free-ride in the 2008 debates. No tough follow-up to his unanswered or semi-answered remarks. No real questions about his lack of experience. Expect this same approach to 2012 debates. Granted, Obama did not have a record in 2008 on which he had to support. But I would not expect the press to make much of an issue -- if any -- of his record as President.

Newt would mop the floor with him.|||You need to understand that the debates do not allow teleprompters and prepared speech's, he (obama) would have to think on his feet and would not have much if any advantage. Now if the debates were not rigged to give obama cute easy little questions so he can give fluff answers and talking points it might be a real debate.|||It would be interesting to watch the debates. I would advise everybody to take time to study up facts, history, statistics and the Constitution because EVERYBODY will be watching for mistakes on both sides of the isle. The only thing that separates you is gear, what gear do you have on atm are you wearing the conquest point sets, or got an decent drops from raids? The better the gear in arena the better chance you have of winning and that's it.

What is the thing that Oliver Reed in "Gladiator" is playing with in the movie?

Oliver Reed played the slave trader that bought Maximus to fight as a gladiator for him. There are several instances in the movie where Reed is seen fidgeting with some kind of pendant. My father told me that the pendant is some kind of middle eastern/eastern thing used to occupy people who need to play with something in their hands. Anyone know what it is?|||I dunno, but I met him when I was 15. He was coming out of the movie 'Tommy' with a beautiful blond as I was walking in (he was in that movie). I got his autograph.
