What is the difference between gladiator and ultimate fighting championship?

they are both in a area where they can't escape

the audience scream bloodlust

the fighter can get injured seriously (well in ultimate fighting championship, people don't die)

but what is the difference between those sports?|||Gladiators started out as Slaves and had no choice about their occupation. Failed gladiators could be put to death at the will of the audience - otherwise not much difference, except fighting styles.|||ufc is much better.|||Gladiator: Fight to the death.

UFC: Winner decided by knockout, TKO, submission, or by decision.|||People don't die in the UFC, murder is not as acceptable as it was in Rome. Gladiators also used armor and weapons.

I'm not sure whether or not they had actual rules in the coliseum, but I'm willing to bet they were more code of honor type of rules, than combative rules.

UFC fighters are volunteers, Gladiators were usually slaves who were forced to fight for amusement, or they were promised freedom upon victory. However both fight and fought for fame, glory, money, and perhaps even the competitive spirit.

In the UFC, great care is taken to look after a fighters health and well being during the fight. UFC fighters can make a career out of fighting.

If you were a Gladiator and lasted more than a couple of matches, you were phenomenal. Life expectancy of a Gladiator was very very short.
